You could get arrested if you hoard these things.
It is risky not to be on alert at all times. You don’t want to take chances with your protection, safety, and welfare. An effective way to protect yourself is by stockpiling survival items.
Stockpiling these things will keep you safe in any unforeseen dangerous events and circumstances. In a fire, the fire extinguisher might be the only thing you need to keep your house from going up in flames. You can protect yourself with your survival knife.

Also, if you need to build a shelter (usually a temporary one), you can cut branches with your knife. In the event of a blackout, your headlamp would provide illumination. I could go on and on about how important it is to keep emergency supplies on hand.
But hey, that is not all there is to it! Some things are illegal to keep too much of.
Brass Knuckles
This is a dangerous piece of metal that you can hold onto your fingers during a fight. It is helpful in self-defense.
Even though there is no federal law that says you can’t have brass knuckles, some states consider them a concealed weapon and won’t let you have them.
New York, Colorado, New Jersey, Vermont, etc. are all among these states. Also, some districts, like the District of Columbia, forbid you from possessing this item. If you want to own this item, you must first obtain a license for it.
Note that even in states like Iowa and Ohio, where knuckles are not expressly prohibited, you may be charged with a felony when you use them in a violent crime.
Knives
Most of the time, you can own or keep knives that are shorter than 2 to 3 inches. However, you are not permitted to possess some types of knives.
There are different rules in each state about what kinds of knives you can’t keep.
In Texas, you cannot use a knife with a blade that is longer than 5½ inches.
In California, you can’t have belt knives, air gauge knives, ballistic knives, butterfly knives, dirks, stilettos, knives longer than 2 inches, or knives that metal detectors can’t find.
In Illinois and Florida, you cannot keep ballistic knives. You can’t have metal knuckle knives, throwing stars, cane swords, or ballistic knives in New York.

In Alabama, you are not permitted to have concealed bowie-like knives. Also, both butterfly knives and switchblades are against the law in Hawaii.
Explosives
The Federal Explosives Act of 1917 says that it is illegal to own explosives.
If you want to put explosives in your survival supplies, you should give up on that idea.
If not, you could be put in jail.
Tasers
This is an electroshock weapon that you can use to stop an attacker who is trying to hurt you. It has two small darts that can penetrate the skin and deliver an electric shock to the target.
You can’t own or use a taser in the states of New York, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
However, in Connecticut, you can carry this item along with you, either in person or in a car. Before you can own a taser in Illinois, you have to get a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card.
Switchblades
Some states also make it illegal to have or use this item.
These states include Hawaii, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Washington, Delaware, etc.
If you break this law, you can get into trouble. In Minnesota, for example, having a switchblade is a misdemeanor crime that can lead to 90 days or a year in jail and fines.
Large Capacity Magazines
This is a type of magazine that holds a lot of bullets. It lets you shoot over and over without having to reload the rifle.
Large-capacity magazines are against the law in some states, such as Hawaii, Connecticut, California, Colorado, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, and Vermont.
You could get arrested if you hoard these things.
Under Colorado Revised Statute 18-12-302, a magazine can only hold up to 15 rounds.
In Hawaii, Connecticut, Maryland, and other places, the most you can shoot is 10 times.
Using large-capacity magazines attracts punishment.
In Colorado, you could go to jail for 12 to 18 months or pay a $1,000 to $10,000 fine. In 2021, the Ninth Circuit upheld California’s penal code 32310, which forbids the possession of large-capacity magazines.
Traps
Trapping is restricted in states like New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, California, and Washington.
It is against the law in New Jersey to own a steel-jaw leghold trap. In Florida, you cannot possess or use steel leg-hold, body-grip, or dog-proof raccoon traps.
If you need traps at all, you must get a permit from Food and Wildlife Conservation.
Bullets
All states have different rules about which bullets are legal. Large-caliber ammunition is illegal in states like California and Connecticut.
It is against the law in Florida to own or use Dragon’s breath bullet. The Dragon’s breath can shoot out sparks and flames for over 100 feet.
You can’t have flechette bullets in the states of Florida, California, and Illinois. Check to see if the type of bullets you want are legal in your state.
Assault Rifles
Under the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act of 1994, assault rifles were illegal at the federal level until 2004. But in some states, it is still against the law to own or use an assault rifle.
These states are Maryland, Massachusetts, Hawaii, California, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
If you want to put an assault rifle in your survival kit and your state law says you can’t, you need to get rid of it right away.
According to the Maryland Code of Criminal Law, a first-time offender can go to jail for at least five years and up to twenty years.
A second or later offender faces a minimum of ten years in prison and a maximum of twenty years in prison.
Silencers
If you want to add a silencer to your survival gear, you should first find out if it is legal in your state.
Silencers are illegal to own in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, California, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and the District of Columbia.
California’s penal code 33310 says that it is illegal to own a silencer. The penalty is up to three years in prison.
You don’t want to get caught by the police with something that is against the law. And no, you can’t say you didn’t know better. That’s pretty much why I went over some of the things you can’t keep for yourself.
Keep in mind that different states and districts may have different rules. Just make sure you don’t break the laws where you live.

Next thing on the list! “YOU ARE ‘NO-LONGER’ ALLOWED TO DO YOUR OWN THINKING”!!!
It has always been illegal to possess more than the legal limit of anything.
