The United States is eagerly waiting for the official results of the most recent midterm election. We do know one thing for sure: In the last few years, US elections have become much more vicious.
Most importantly, what will the results of this midterm election mean for us preppers? What kind of America are we inheriting, and how should we start preparing for it?
Greater Surveillance
With surveillance, we have reached a dangerous point. It’s pretty much come to life. The surveillance of everything the American people do is an unstoppable force. It’s happening, whether it’s through your phone, TV, Alexa, Smart TV, Ring, Satellites, or some other way we don’t even know about.

The fact that a two-party system is divisive has led to the rise of new “boogeymen” like violent extremists and political terrorists here in the country.
A document that showed signs, symbols, and markers of domestic right-wing terrorism got out of the FBI. These included the Betsy Ross Flag, the Gadsden Flag, the Punisher skull, and other symbols from the American Revolution.
We need to keep an eye on these people and make sure they don’t do anything crazy like set off fireworks on July 4th. Every day Americans will be watched even more after the midterm elections.
Greater “Safety” Through Government
From keeping an eye on fake news to putting limits on health and safety, the results of the midterm elections will make it clear that the government needs to do more to keep people safe.
This will, of course, cost something. It will mean that the government will grow, and because there will be more surveillance, your actions as a prepper will be closely watched.
Prepping is becoming more and more popular. Just a few days ago, 60 Minutes did a story on it, and then Bloomberg did a story on the Next Generation of climate change preppers. This idea of being independent and able to take care of yourself is not going away.
After the midterm elections, there will be a push for more dictatorial and oppressive behavior in the country. It’s not enough for the U.S. to change course on its own. Instead, the government will use its power to destroy oil and coal production. It will go after the farming industry, and all of this should make you want to keep preparing.
Fuel Shortage
The results of the midterm elections show that we don’t have much of a solution to the fuel shortage that is affecting many countries around the world. America has a lot of oil flowing under our feet.
Instead, you need to buckle up and expect increased prices at the pump, high prices to heat your home, and nations abroad to suffer worst of all.
There should be more than one way to heat your house. This year, people will be cold, and some will die from carbon monoxide poisoning when they try to heat their homes in any way they can. Have a plan.
Food Shortages
Another issue that hasn’t been fixed and won’t be fixed, no matter what the results of the midterms are. Fuel and food go together like peanut butter and jelly, so if the price or availability of food or fuel goes up, so will the price of food.

We may also see a big drop in the amount of food that is grown and brought to market. This is because the cost of farming is already very high, and some farmers have let fields go fallow because of things like rising costs and droughts.
It is to your advantage to grow as much of your own food as you can. Having a way to store food is always a good idea. I would suggest putting food away for at least 6 months. In the past, I would always suggest waiting three months, but times have certainly changed!
Higher And Higher Prices
Those who are preparing for a crisis will move even faster to become self-sufficient after the midterm elections.
We have all seen the beginnings of this economic disaster.
Hopefully, you’ve been taking precautions to protect yourself and your family.
The long and short of it is that you cannot adjust interest rates or employ enough demand destruction to deal with a 30 trillion-dollar debt.
This means that your dollar won’t be worth as much. Even if it’s not worthless, it’s certainly worth less. Your money is worth more now than it will be in three months.
Gold, silver, or even Goldbacks will give you more stability than paper dollars or fiat money. You should also think about buying things that are really useful in this new world. These are things like food, medical supplies, skills, tools, barter items, and raw land.

Civil Unrest
People in the United States care so much about how elections turn out that there will be some kind of civil unrest after this one.
Most people are content with the idea that America is on a collision course with the Civil War.
On both sides of the political spectrum, we have seen violent groups with political goals. They are real. As long as hard times, high prices, and anger are on the streets of this country, these groups will grow.
The manipulation of the news doesn’t help either.
No matter how you look at it, if you are in an area with a lot of people, you should be ready for civil unrest. This means that you should always know what’s going on in your area. Protests can turn into fights very quickly.
You should also make a plan for what to do if someone walks down your street with the intention of hurting you or your property. I suggest paintball guns with pepper balls in them.
The results of this midterm election won’t mean much to a true prepper who wants to be self-sufficient and independent. No matter who ends up in power, you should try to learn as much as you can about how to live and do well outside of that system.
Some things are hard to ignore, like when the government censors things or goes after certain groups. Still, we need to start thinking on a larger scale. It’s time to find new ways to do business, farm, keep safe, and do just about anything else you care about.
